JOIN US FOR A DAY TRIP TO MONTPELIER, VIRGINIA

HOME OF 4TH PRESIDENT OF THE U.S., JAMES MADISON


The AAHGS James Dent Walker Chapter invites you, your family and friends to join us on an exciting journey in African American History on 

Saturday, April 13, 2019 for a day-long bus tour  to Montpelier, home of James and Dolley Madison and an extended enslaved family and their descendants..


A visit to this historic site includes a guided tour of the mansion as well as an opportunity to stroll its expansive grounds and see the “Mere Distinction of Color" Exhibit which includes several reconstructed slave quarters.


Itinerary:
8:00 AM                     Depart Carter Barron parking lot (4850 Colorado Ave NW,                                           DC)  for Montpelier
11:00 AM                    Guided tour of the Montpelier Mansion
12:15 PM                    Boxed Lunch
1:00 PM                     Self-guided tour of exhibits and grounds**
3:30 PM                     Depart for Washington, DC

PAYMENT AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Fee: $75/person (non-refundable unless a replacement is found)

Payment: By check or cash is due by March 16, 2019.  Make checks payable to JDW-AAHGS.  Payments should be mailed ASAP to JDW Chapter, P.O. Box 2019, Washington, DC  20013.
